Age? 29
Zodiac sign? Virgo sun, Taurus moon and Pisces rising (Read: two parts earth mama one part mermaid)
Home? I live in a small, old cottage house on the edge of Northeast Minneapolis. I love having a jungle-y backyard dreamworld and also being close to eclectic restaurants and art galleries, it’s a perfect blend of nature and city life.
Fav music artists? Bon Iver, Fleetwood Mac, Avett Brothers, Lana Del Rey and Joni Mitchell
What inspires you? Tall pine trees, romance, long car rides, heartbreak, home-grown roses, a closet full of old clothes, sunflares, cool human-beings, backlit mountains, love stories, dripping candle sticks... anything and everything.
Your mantra? The following words from Baba Ram Dass have stuck with me over the years: “We’re all just walking each other home.” It’s a sweet reminder to be kind and remember that life’s a beautiful journey.
How did Palisaint start? I think it truly was something in the making long before I knew it. After years of many jobs and never loving any of them I knew I wanted to work for myself; I craved the freedom that came with that. I eventually combined a few different loves of mine: thrifting, fashion, art, environmentalism and writing and Palisaint was born.
Why vintage? I just love it. I get completely lost in styles from other decades and can’t help but think of the history of the person who wore the item previously. I’m also deeply inspired by the way wearing second-hand impacts the earth and want to make that accessible to as many as possible through my shop.
Meaning behind the name? The name Palisaint was inspired by a beautiful spot on Minnesota’s north shore called the Palisade Head. The north shore is one of my favorite places in the world, one of those that whenever I visit it feels like coming home.
Favorite part of running a vintage shop? The complete creative freedom, simply that.
What does the future of Palisaint look like? I hope to continue to source great vintage pieces and sell them online and in person at vintage markets across the country. I also hope to grow the Palisaint Journal— maybe take you all with me on some destination thrifting road trips soon and document it here, stay tuned!
